Best

We are a far cry from perfect; yet if we give our best and follow through with hearts focused, sincere and compassionate, we can rest in knowing that all is unfolding as it should.  May your heart be filled with the hope of God's promises as you make today the best it can be.

Can a mortal seem upright to God, would anybody seem pure in the presence of his Maker? - Job 4:17

Testify

Can you believe in Jesus and His Way, without believing that He is the Begotten Son of God? It is scary, to me, how many people I love strive to do good, yet, do not claim Jesus as Divine. The Scriptures are written that we must acknowledge the Name of Jesus. (John 3:18 NJB) So, how often in our day do we Christians do this? The non-believer is not likely to read scripture nor surround themselves with Believers. We may be their only means of receiving God’s Grace. Living a life according to Jesus’ Way is the greatest means of Glorifying His Name. In the words of Saint Teresa of Calcutta, let us pray: “Lord, forgive us our sins and lead all souls to heaven, especially those most in need of your great Mercy.”

But whoever does the truth comes out into the light, so that what he is doing may plainly appear as done in God. – John 3:21

Reflection

When you look in the mirror, who do you see? I would bet that most of us never truly see ourselves; at least, not as God does. God does not create anything less than good. Let His love pour through you. The deeper God’s Grace runs within us, the more beautifully we shine. You are a work of The Master of All Creation. Rejoice in who you are.

‘Neither he nor his parents sinned,’ Jesus answered. ‘He was born blind so that the works of God might be revealed in him.’ – John 9:3

Mine

Today I was relishing waking slowly to a fresh cup of tea. But as I stared out the window at two nesting bluebirds, my husband stepped into view and motioned for me to come outside. This may have been great if he had not been holding a rake. Grumbling, I placed my tea cup on the table, dawned my jacket, and joined him in his goal to get a particular task done before he left for work. Now, I’m sitting with a new cup of tea. He pulled out of the driveway a few moments ago.

Then I read the passage in today’s scripture readings, “to love your neighbor as yourself is worth more than burnt offerings and sacrifice.” Although I did go out and help, I believe I failed the “love as yourself” test. I switch between moments poorly, especially when I have a comfort moment in process. Yet, I did go and help. God smiled at this. And He is smiling, still, as I realize that these tiny, micro-moments add up and are sometimes harder to achieve than stepping up to help with the soup kitchen.

So, the next time a loved one calls for help, what shall I do? My hope is that I will see God smile, and return my own to Him.

And ‘to love Him with all your heart, with all your understanding, with all your strength, and to love your neighbor as yourself’ is worth more than all burnt offerings and sacrifices. – Mark 12:33

Listen

The world is filled with noise. Music (all sorts of genres), highways, city blocks, homes (appliances, pets, children, spouse, telephone); even the “quiet” country can be filled with wildlife, winds, rains and storms - and home. Within each sound, there is one voice crying through . . . non-ceasing, non-relenting, and nonplused. We must seek to hear it. Our Lord calls to each of us through every moment of our lives. Remember, He is there. Listen to Him. He never leaves.

…Listen to my voice; then I will be your God and you shall be my people. Walk in all the ways that I command you, so that you may prosper. – Jeremiah 7:23

Autopilot

I am still traveling so I am leaving you a reflection today from  IgnatiousSpirituality.com

My prayer today is to be present for God as He is always present to me.

And now we follow you with our whole heart, we fear you and we seek your face. Do not put us to shame, - Daniel 3:41

Meditate

As I'm traveling this week, I have enjoyed the posts from Loyola Press to help me meditate on my Lenten Journey. Here is a beautiful contemplation by Gary Jansen for the Stations of the Cross that can be done over 15 days at any time of the day.
