Do you ever have one of those
days when your body is so full of aches and pains it seems your greatest
accomplishment for the next 24 hours may be just getting out of bed? Although
appealing, this is never a wise choice. The more we lay still the harder it becomes
for us to move. Our spirits cry out in the same way. When we do not exercise
our spirits by spending time with scripture, prayer, and stepping out in works
of mercy and love, our spirits become dull. Atrophy slowly creeps into our
being and clouds our responses to the call of God. Just as stretching our
muscles sends energy and strength into our physical beings, stretching our
spirits energizes the soul.
Let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we will reap if we do not grow weary. - Galatians 6:9
