September 19 – Difference

God spits out lukewarm. This is documented in scripture. He abhors idleness and complacency. Now, just because we sit still for a moment does not mean this is idleness. There are those moments in our lives when it is pure luxury to be filled with sweet nothingness so that our minds and bodies can be restored. The message is this: God wants us to make a difference. We are to look within ourselves and outward to others; and with each endeavor we undertake, strive to make a difference in the lives of all. We are not to sit idly by while another struggles. We are to use the gifts He has given us for goodness. Haley Scott DeMaria, keynote speaker for the 2012 Notre Dame’s 167th University Commencement, states, “My advice to you is this: Love what you do. Believe in a cause and make it your passion. Find your passion, and make it your career. In doing so, you will make a difference because life is too short to do otherwise”.

And they shall teach my people the difference between the holy and the common, and cause them to discern between the unclean and the clean. –Ezekiel 44:23
