Truth

How much truth do we need to know? God has given us His Scriptures, His Living Son, and His Holy Spirit. Within each lies His Truth. Yet, God has chosen to send us little bits, in little chunks. Some followers are ready for the complete picture. Those are called Saints and live in Heaven. For us on earth, we must be content with knowing that God reveals what we need to know on the level we need to know it. It is not for us to judge how much another knows, or how much information is revealed to them. Our role is to listen with the Holy Spirit, rely on Christ's examples, and read the Scriptures with the mind of God. Then, in God's Omnipotence, truth will be revealed.

My brethren, if any among you strays from the truth and one turns him back, let him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save his soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins. – James 5:19, 20

Compassion

Any one moment is never about any one thing. The ripple effect is immeasurable. Before you react and make your next decision, consider those around you. Your choice will impact millions for generations to come.

When Jesus saw the vast crowd, his heart was moved with pity for them, for they were like sheep without a shepherd; and he began to teach them many things. – Mark 6:34

Thought

The moment we allow an idea to enter into our mind, is the moment we bring the idea life.Time spent putting out fires sparked by ill thoughts and wrong judgment waists a tremendous amount of effort. Let's choose, instead, to place our sights on God and free ourselves to create with His Grace.

Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things. - Philippians 4:8

Seek

God is "I Am". He cannot be defined or understood or limited to idols and ideals. His power is wielded in a whisper and great winds, alongside poverty and wealth, in famine and abundance. Yet, within this Majesty, He comes to man, allowing us to touch His very Essence. He has graced us with the ability to hold Him within our own hands and we pass this gift to others. Seeking Him in all things opens our very soul to find Him within ourselves.

Lift up your eyes and look to the heavens: Who created all these? He who brings out the starry host one by one and calls forth each of them by name. Because of his great power and mighty strength, not one of them is missing. - Isaiah 40:26

Trust

God knows what you can and cannot handle.  In each moment, He has great confidence in you.

Praise be to God, who has not rejected my prayer or withheld his love from me! – Psalm 66:2

Joy

Joy is a presence that must be sought.  It does not come naturally.  It has to be entered into, not created. The Summa Theologica of St. Thomas Aquinas defines joy as being an act of charity achieved through a lack of desire.  It is not until we put ourselves aside and focus on the needs of others, that we can experience real joy.  Yet, how can charity create joy?  For, when we open ourselves to one another we share in added heartache and sorrow. We are reminded of the extent of our helplessness in fighting the forces of the evil that touches all our lives. Here, we must seek God.  He, the source of all life, came down to bring hope to a world torn apart in sorrow and pain. When we choose to enter into Him, desiring nothing but His charity of love and mercy, seeking to trust beyond our understanding, we find the hope to walk in eternal Joy.

"The kingdom of God is not meat and drink, but justice and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost." -  Romans 14:17

Obligation

We are handed an assignment each day. We are not to put it off, seek out loop holes, or avoid confrontations.  We are to face it with truth, honesty and integrity. There is no competition. We are not to push anyone aside in order to succeed. Our teacher, the greatest teacher of all times, will not issue a grade: only a pass or a fail. Our assignment: to accept the gift of love.

At this the whole assembly said, “Amen,” and praised the LORD. And the people did as they had promised. -  Nehemiah 5:13b

Mediation

One of the many challenges a parent faces is the one of defending her child against the bully, only to find the bully is her other child. You can't take sides. You have to step back and take a look at the situation from each view, helping to guide both children to a good solution. When we find ourselves in a position of disagreement with another, it is good to remember that every person in the room is a child of God. All of us are created by Him, for Him, to be with Him forever. The outcome of every situation will be fruitful if we simply remember that we are all His, and in His Grace we can find peace.

He created them male and female, and He blessed them and named them Man in the day when they were created. - Genesis 5:2

Wishing

There are so many moments spent wishing we had this or wishing for that; wishing for more time in our day or wishing the weekend would hurry and get here.  Our life is filled with endless anticipation and desire. Wouldn’t it be nice to get lost in the moment with no concept of time or need?  Love is like that. When we fall in love, we lose all regard to ourselves and are filled with nothing but the joy of having the one we love most in our presence.  Let God hold you today. Feel His love circled around you and cling back. In His embrace, you will find your true desire and find your wishes come true.

Let all that ye do be done in love. – 1 Corinthians 16:14

Favorites

Have you ever noticed that it is always your favorite "thing" that you end up loosing or damaging? My best gloves are down to only the right hand. My favorite tea cup is the one that was knocked off of the cabinet. My silver hoop earrings became part of a pirate costume since one went missing.  Try as we may to maintain an ordered life, accidents happen. Things change. Even if we were to never remove the items from their safe keeping, the safe place could be destroyed through fire, weather, war. God graces us with things. These things range from the material to the very breath we take. Our time on earth is measured. Our use of our gifts are too. We should never hide what we are given. Our talents and treasures are meant to be used and shared. All things will pass away. What counts is how much value we personally stake in each. I can acquire new gloves. I will not be able to acquire another life. This is it and everything within it is God's gift to me. Losing material things are easy to accept when compared to the heartbreak of losing a loved one. But in each moment, I know God gives us His Grace in every loss and in Him is the Freedom to enjoy all of the other gifts yet to come.

Brothers and sisters: you know the time; it is the hour now for you to awake from sleep. For our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed; the night is advanced, the day is at hand. Let us then throw off the works of darkness and put on the armor of light; let us conduct ourselves properly as in the day, not in orgies and drunkenness, not in promiscuity and lust, not in rivalry and jealousy. But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the desires of the flesh. - Romans 13:11-14
