June 28, 2013 - Rest

There are those days when we get the awesome privilege of taking a step away from the every day. These may come in small moments or grand, but whenever the opportunities come, do not let them pass you by. God sends these to you as a way to renew your soul. Give Him thanks and fall into His incredible mercy and love. In this, you will draw stength for the more challenging days to come.

By the seventh day God completed His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done. - Genesis 2:2

June 27, 2013 - Friendship

I have a great group of girl friends. I see them practically every day of the year. We share secrets, laugh and cry together, and are each ready to step in when the other needs a hand. Because of the bond of friendship it is must easier to approach these friends with a favor than anyone else I am acquainted with. I can trust anything with them and know, even if something were to go awry under their watch, they would do everything possible to make the situation come out for the best. Within this circle lies my greatest friend. Each morning as I wake, each evening when I retire to bed, and all the moments in between are made better because of my friendship with God. He is the one who sends all blessings my way and because I keep Him very close to me, I have full trust that I can call on Him for every need and know He is working to ensure all things turn out for the best. Embrace Him as your friend and feel the peace of knowing all is right in His hands.

Do not forsake your friend and your father’s friend, and do not go to your brother’s house in the day of your calamity. Better is a neighbor who is near than a brother who is far away. - Proverbs 27:10

June 26, 2013 - Grace

Every day is a gift from God. When we are fortunate enough to be in a "good" moment, we should embrace it with the joy God intended for us. We will have our turn at the "not so good" times. For within these, also, lay God's Grace, and it is His goodness that leads us and grows us in each place.

Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord; - 2 Peter 1:2

Wednesday, June 19, 2012 - Holiness

To live your life well, to call on Christ's values in every moment, no matter where the moment finds you, this is holiness. May our first step and our last for each day be to celebrate the life that God has given us and bring glory to His name.

... and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness. Ephesians 4:24

Monday, June 17, 2013 - desire

Everything we have is from God. Likewise, everything we do not have is from God. Therefore, we should never feel pride for any possession, gift, talent, or situation in which we find ourselves. Nor should we be envious of another for things they have that we desire. For what we possess at this moment is God’s providence. And whenever we work for a possession or to finesse a talent, we are merely the vessel God is using to refine His gift of omnipotence. – Becki

I realized then that God was giving them the identical gift he gave to us when we believed in the Lord Jesus Christ; and who was I to stand in God’s way? – Acts 11:17

Thursday, June 13, 2013 - Truth

How much truth do we need to know? God has given us His Scriptures, His Living Son, and His Holy Spirit. Within each lies His Truth. Yet, God has chosen to send us little bits, in little chunks. Some followers are ready for the complete picture. Those are called Saints and live in Heaven. For us on earth, we must be content with knowing that God reveals what we need to know on the level we need to know it. It is not for us to judge how much another knows, or how much information is revealed to them. Our role is to listen with the Holy Spirit, rely on Christ's examples, and read the Scriptures with the mind of God. Then, in God's Omnipotence, truth will be revealed.

My brethren, if any among you strays from the truth and one turns him back, let him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save his soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins. – James 5:19,20

Tuesday, June 11, 2013 - Joy

What brings you joy; not just laughter here and again, not just satisfaction from completing a task, but true, peace giving, soul reaching joy? True joy lingers even after the moment. It penetrates our being and invigorates, enabling us to have the stamina to carry on in the not so joyful moments. Make certain to make time to be joy-filled. Put the world on hold and let go of all that binds you. It will all be  here when you return and you will be able to face it with renewed clarity and perseverence.

For who is our hope or joy or crown of exultation? Is it not even you, in the presence of our Lord Jesus at His coming? For you are our glory and joy. - 1 Thessalonians 2:19,20

Thursday, June 6, 2013 - Diligence

Today is the last day of school for many students in our area. But to the teachers, faculty and staff this day is only a bridge for the future. They have been preparing for the first day of school in the upcoming Fall for many months. It is because of their passion and diligence that the families can relax in the summer and know that when they enter the doors again, they will be ready and able to learn and move forward to the next chapter of their lives. when our Lord Jesus ascended before His Apostles, He left them a promise that He was going before them to prepare a home in Heaven. As we embrace the teachings of Christ, we too must help others reach this goal. We must prepare the pathway for the next generation, looking to the future and learning from our past. As we climb the next rung in Discipleship, compassion, and perseverence, by placing our hope in Jesus, we can make the path for others a little easier and a whole lot stronger.

Now for this very reason also, applying all diligence, in your faith supply moral excellence, and in your moral excellence, knowledge. 2 Peter 1:5

Tuesday, June 4, 2013 - Worry

Worry is a powerful tool for our adversary. One anxiety can become all consuming, limiting productivty, and stagnating the mind. It spurs our imagination and can lead us to blaming, gossip and slander. Worry separates us from God. We may cry out to Him, but our mind is never in the moment, even in prayer. We must take our fears and anxiety to the altar and we must leave them with Our Lord, trusting that He is in control and that all is unfolding as it should. Pray for strength, understanding, and patience. Sit still, absorb God's peace and hear His voice. Let all anxiety fall and allow the Spirit to penetrate your soul and replace your being with love.

"But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you" - Matthew 6:33
